When Kindness No Longer Fits in Boxes: The SIMBIOCITY Community Helped Bring Smiles to Nearly 500 Children on September 1

The beginning of September should be associated with joy, curiosity, and the carefree excitement of seeing friends again for every child — not with worries about whether their backpack contains all the essential school supplies. To help as many children as possible start the school year with greater confidence and peace of mind, this year we invited the SIMBIOCITY community to come together and take part in the “Mokinio krepšelis 2026” (“Student’s School Bag 2026”) initiative.

For two weeks, red donation boxes were placed in four of our buildings — Beta, Delta, Penta, and Nova. The result exceeded all expectations: the generosity of the companies and people working here was so great that the donated supplies simply no longer fit inside the boxes!

Backpacks, notebooks, pencil cases, pencils, markers, and other essential school supplies have already been handed over to the Family Support Division of the Vilnius City Social Services Centre, from where the donations made their way directly to the children.

The head of the “Vilties liepsnos” Foundation shared her delight:

“When we saw how many school supplies had been collected by the people working in SIMBIOCITY spaces, we were genuinely amazed. It felt wonderful to take away boxes filled to the brim, knowing that very soon children would be eagerly exploring everything inside them.”

This year, thanks to the joint efforts of all the campaign partners and generous individuals, nearly 500 children across Lithuania — from Vilnius and Kaunas to Šilutė, Molėtai, and Klaipėda — started school with full backpacks and smiles on their faces. We are especially happy that the SIMBIOCITY community, which joined this meaningful initiative for the first time this year, became an important part of this story.
